4. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)

The next step is to get the document attested by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. This can be done through their regional offices or authorized service providers.

5. Embassy or Consulate

If the birth certificate is to be used in a country that is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, it will need to be further attested by the respective Embassy or Consulate of that country in India.

6. Translation and Notarization (if necessary)

If the document is not in English, it may need to be translated by an authorized translator. The translated document may also need to be notarized.

7. Apostille (if applicable)

If the country where you intend to use the document is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you can obtain an apostille from the designated authority in India, usually the MEA.

8. Endorsement and Legalization (if necessary)

If the country is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, you might need to get the document endorsed and legalized by the respective country's Embassy or Consulate.

9. Return of Documents

After the attestation or apostille process is complete, the documents will be returned to you.
